Dr Michael Aven supports students on their way of becoming an “Ambassador for Internationality”

Through donations and endowments from Dr Michael Aven, the Respekt & Wertschätzung Scholarship (respect & appreciation Scholarship) was made possible and awarded for the first time in 2021.

The scholarship sponsor and former DAAD scholar has decided to “give back” due to an inheritance, but also in view of his own successful study visit to Germany and the associated fond memories of that time.

Young Americans shall be given the opportunity to study or do research in Germany. The aim of the scholarship is, in addition to expanding academic knowledge and gaining international experience, to gain insight into the German language and German society.

The beneficiaries should – following Dr. Aven's intention - emerge from the scholarship as an "ambassador for internationality". Initially, the Respekt & Wertschätzung Scholarship was only intended to benefit American students and PhD candidates majoring in either Physics or Music. In the further course, Dr Aven has chosen to expand the subject areas in order to enable a larger group of students to receive funding. Thus, students of natural sciences, engineering, sports and linguistics, economics, psychology, theology or philosophy can now also receive a “Respect & Appreciation” Scholarship.
